See below for the when and the why these services can bring your lawn back to life or maintain its health.

For A Beautiful Lawn, Don't Skip These 2 Things

LAWN AERATION

Grass roots need air, water, and nutrients to be as thick and healthy as it can be. Your lawn's soil gets compacted over time. Which prohibits the essentials from getting to the roots of your grass.  Lawn aeration creates holes into the soil, allowing your grass to "eat, drink, and breathe".

It's especially important in climates like ours in the Sioux Falls area where our lawns get stressed to the max.

If you have a lot of clay in your soil, like a lot of us do, annual aeration is recommended to keep the grass from getting thin and weak.  Early Fall or early Spring is the best time to aerate in our area of the country.  And it's best to do it when the soil contains a bit of moisture from some rainfall or irrigation the day before.

DETHATCHING or POWER RAKING

A thin, organic thatch layer of a half-inch or less is beneficial to your lawn. But when it gets thicker, 1 inch or more, it becomes a barrier preventing water and nutrients from getting to the grass roots.

Just poke your finger into your lawn and see how hard it is to get to the soil.  Or cut a little square a few inches down, so you can see a cross-section of the soil, grass, and thatch.  Then, determine if you are ready to have us dethatch your lawn.

Dethatch cool season grasses, like most of us probably have (a lot of Kentucky Bluegrass), in late Summer or early Fall.  After dethatching, it's also a great time to overseed if it's needed.

We have the right equipment to get you taken care of.  Give us a call today to schedule your lawn aeration, dethatching, or power raking.
